Missions

The Mission Team at Fair Grove reaches out to the community, the county, and to the world in many ways throughout the year. For example, in our own community, we support the Davidson County Women’s Shelter, Hinkle Hospice House and throughout the year to the FGFRC. We provide Christmas shoeboxes for children in Armenia, in an extremely impoverished area of the world where only the WNCC and NC conference help.

The FAIRGROVE FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER: The FGFRC serves Thomasville and eastern Davidson County with a food pantry, emergency financial assistance, and parenting classes. Our congregation participates in gleaning by bringing in non-perishable food each week as well as participating in large food drives during the year. In addition, members have picked up food from local grocery stores and have served on FGFRC board. FGUMC supports throughout the year financially and by shopping for Gifts from the Heart at Christmas time.

MEAL TEAM: Volunteers provide meals to various groups such as the parenting class at Fairgrove Family Resource Center, Â Cooperative Community Ministries, or staff and athletes at local schools and our own preschool. Please come and be a part of the fellowship as the meal team reaches out to our community!

PRAYER SHAWL: Whether it is the death of a loved one, a celebration of joy, or just for someone in need, a prayer shawl helps us wrap the recipient in prayer. Sometimes known as “Chicks with Sticks”, volunteers create shawls, afghans, and blankets, and with each stitch and/or completion of his/her creation, blessings are prayed. Volunteers with skills of knitting, crocheting, or any needle art are welcomed to participate. Don’t know how but want to learn? Please come!  Meetings are the first Tuesday of each month at 10:00 am.
